She is the mistress of libraries and hieroglyphs and the goddess that prescribes the foundations of pyramids. It is said that her impact and appearance emerges every 26000 years. Her image can be found within the Temples of Karnak and Luxor.

She has also been associated with Horus the elder and younger as protectors of the Pharonic couples. Most importantly she is the benevolent half of Sekhmet offering and personifying the gifts of love, beauty, abundance and the innate pleasures of life. She is most commonly associated with Isis in her feminine attributes and as a patron goddess to all women and birth.

The Essence of the Goddess

An ancient Egyptian goddess originating in the Nile delta, circa 930 BC. Her power and persona was so acknowledged and beloved by the ancient Egyptians that a city , Bubastis was named in her honor. Bubastis, a central trade center and location of her temple, was situated on a harbor formed in the shape of the cresent moon. Bast was the goddess most assessable to all peoples; nobles, clergy and the commoner alike. Bast is usually portrayed as a woman with a domestic cat-head holding a sistrum, loaves of bread, perfume bottles, and accompanied by kittens. Her presence a very feminine nature as is the feline creature. Her power and essence is the Divine Feminity of woman and the goddess manifest in the mundane world.
